First Annual Political Empowerment Luncheon
April 25, 2008

nullThe Hispanic Political Action Committee of Silicon Valley (HPACSV) and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley (HCCSV) invites you to the First Annual Political Empowerment Luncheon “Hispanics in Politics” on April 25, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, 1471 North 4th St., San Jose,  CA 95112.

HPACSV is a newly launched Political Action Committee whose mission is to engage Hispanic business leaders in the political and public policy process to achieve sustainable economic development in the Hispanic business community. HPACSV’s goals are to form a strong political voice and to seek political alliances to influence policy makers and legislation affecting Hispanic business. In addition, HPACSV will build and sustain an effective pro-business advocacy organization to support candidates and issues, regardless of their political affiliation, that have demonstrated their support for the development of Hispanic businesses.

California’s Hispanic population has tripled—comprising just 10 percent of the state’s population in 1980 to 32 percent in 2000; 11 million Hispanics live in California; Hispanic purchasing power in California nearly doubled from $76 billion to $147 billion, between 1990 and 2000 (Census 2000). The power of the Hispanic population is CLEAR,  but  Hispanic business owners NEED a voice in the political process.  HPACSV is that voice and it will:

bulletInterview and endorse candidates that reflect the priorities of the Hispanic business community
bulletPlace online the  profile of potential candidates for office
bulletParticipate in  important legislative decisions
bulletInfluence issues that are critical to job creation and business growth.

We invite you to come and share with us this historic moment. Joining us in this momentous occasion is Senate Majority Leader, Honorable Senator Gloria Romero who will address the theme of Hispanics in Politics; she will provide her views on the following questions:

bulletWhat progress has been made in the political arena?
bulletWhat is their participation and contributions?
bulletWhat they should be doing to have a positive impact in California?

We will be joined by other elected public officials who have demonstrated their support for Hispanic businesses in California.

We look forward to your attendance on April 25, 2008. Cost for the luncheon is $50.00 per person, but we ask for your sponsorship of a table of ten at the cost of $500.00. A member of the HPACSV Board of Directors will follow up with you in the coming weeks about this invitation. In the meantime, if you have any questions, Please call Miguel Olivo, (408) 219-7310, James Duran, (408) 893-4905 or Julio Baisa, (408) 417-3823.

Sincerely,

Miguel A. Olivo, CPA

Chair, Board of Directors
